BLACKOUT @ BROCK

While Brock may be famous for its seminar lectures, I am quite sure it is not famous for its power failures. Last Wednesday a power outage in the entire Niagara region and the city of St. Catherine's negated that the University shut down for the day. The power outage sparked as you would guess "CHAOS". It wreaked havoc with the bus schedules, the in and outward traffic at the University itself and the days classes were canceled as of 12:00p.m. While my housemates cheered the fact that there was no school, I was more concerned with how long the power would be off (cause mama began to notice that when the power went off, so did the heating system). I was more than happy some two hours later when power was restored to the area and began to wonder what else the wonderful land of snow may have in store for me.
Today began with us in the trenches of a very lively snowstorm that once again negated the closure of the Universities afternoon classes. While I am not surprised that the school is closed, I am nevertheless disappointed because this is the fourth Wednesday in a row that I have missed a seminar class. If they keep this up I will have missed an entire semester of one particular seminar through no fault of my own of course. I wonder if that will automatically constitute an A grade in this class?
LOL!!! While that remains to be seen, I would be remiss if I do not once again state...I wonder what else is there in store for me during my duration here?

The Ride

Waking up this morning I had a sense of deja-vu and numerous flashbacks the onset of which, I am not absolutely sure. It could have been the new layer of snow that covered some 3 - 5 inches off the ground, or the fact that for the first time in numerous years, I am not in the vicinity of my sister that is celebrating her birthday today (Happy b-day Meka, I love you!!!).
These flashbacks range from the shopping trip in Miami, the highlight of which occurred when four adults came out of the mall and could not remember where the vehicle was parked (not one - LOL)!! It could also have been my trip to Bimini this Christmas where my two sisters and I re-inhabited my late grandmother's house for the first time in about four years (sniff, tear); or maybe even the kids faces when I left last Friday - there was no sense of wonder or fear. There were like, 'yeah mummy/auntie Koko you'll be back' (oh and my three year old nephew Meko wanted a kiss). The pinnacle of the smorgasboard may have been my attempt to pre-reserve my seating for my flight the night before (a bit last minute, I know) and to be told that my airline reference number had been cancelled - what a hoot!!! Luckily, I emailed Mr. Russell right away and by 9:30 the following morning, Mr. Russell had returned my call and explained that whatever had went wrong was right again. I guess it has been more or less a real roller coaster ride of ups and downs up to the time that I have arrived here in Canada. I am still in the process of getting my classes together and plan to be set by Friday!!! Wish me luck!!!
